How do you get the Website Known?

The simple answer is:- Google

Whilst there are other search engines around, there is simply no better way to get your site known than to get your site onto Google.

If you simply put your website on the internet, it will end up on Google - eventually. This will be done by automatic web crawlers or spiders who regularly access the millions of sites on the Internet, so it obviously may take some time.

A better and more controlled way to do this is to use Google's Webtools. There it is possible amongst other things to generate a special file containing all the information as to what pages are and where they are on your site (usually called sitemap.xml) and upload it so that Google will then easily recognise it.

Other Internet search engines include Yahoo and it is always worthwhile submitting your site to be included on Cyndi's List.
